A1: Abstract Mapping (Start Date: 5 Oct '17) 

  • Phase 1:

You are required to walk around the faculty building to take several photographs. From these photos, select one that contains all tonal values of grey. By using monochrome filter on your device, transform your photo to a greyscale mode. Then, print it out on an A3 size paper.

  • Phase 2:
You are required to create an abstract mapping of your image cardboard by using lines.

  • Phase 3:
Select three areas from your abstract mapping as your design elements. Using this elements, make a 2D design organization on a black cardboard. The design elements should be in tonal values of gray.


A2: Repetition and Variation (Start Date: 16 Oct '17)

  • Given 5 rectangles, 11 triangles, 7 parallelograms. Using the given shapes as design elements, make a 2D design organization on a black cardboard. The design elements should be in white and a single shade of gray color.
  • Given 7 rectangles, 13 triangles, 5 parallelograms, 5 circles. Using the given shapes as design elements, make a 2D design organization on a black cardboard. The design elements should be in white and a single shade of gray color.
  • Given any numbers of rectangular shapes, triangles, parallelograms and circles. Using the given shapes as design elements, make a 2D design organization on a black cardboard. The design elements should be in white and shades of gray color.

A3: Dominance & Contrast (Start Date: 23 Oct '17) 

Given paper band with a widht of 1 cm, black cardboard. You are required to make a 2D composition represting the concepts of dominance/contrast. Stripes of paper band should span from the cardboard's edge to edge. Partial stripes are not allowed.

Achieved contrast by leaving a space black. Also that space is dominating the design.


A4: Hierarchy (Start Date: 26 Oct '17)

Given black cardboard, craft paper, newspaper in b&w. You are required to make a relief composition representing a concept of hiearchy by using cylindrical shapes made out of newspaper and craft paper.

A5: Rhythm (Start Date: 30 Oct '17)

Given grey cardboard and two sets of letters in b&w. You are required to make a 2D composition representing the concept of rhythm using the letters as design elements. Use at least five letters in your design. You can scale, mirror and rotate the elements or groups.
