A6: Double Sided Relief, Mid-term Jury I (III)

My final project is ready and I've finished designing the posters this morning. It was a sleepless week and after the jury I know I'll be sleeping for straight 4 days or something.... Process of poster design. It is time. My first jury ever. I remember my times in highschool studying for the YGS/LYS. Back then I swear, I wasn't stressed out THAT much. But it is not the time for fear and hopeless thoughts. Okay, I'm ready for the jury adventure! Sad but that was the summary of my jury. Anyway, in architectural education you can learn from every mistake you've made and every critic you've got will lead you to another path of exploring this wonderful world. That is the case for me everyday. My turn in the jury was funny I think. I've had fun. Also it felt amazing to go there and present your design from your very first starting point to what you've put on the table. There is still much to learn, but presentating a job may be the coolest part o

A6: Double-Sided Relief (II)

Okay, this will be our first mid-term jury assignment. Meanwhile, my parents are in town because of the loss of my grandfather. In the previous blog entry, I tried to show my progress of how did I achieve my ideas for the design. This week, I'll start working on this idea because I've got some good critics about my ideas. A sketch of my design idea. Working with these materials in such way is really hard for me. I still can't get along with such kind of things. My only issue is my workmanship in the design from now on. From one side, To other side. Okay, there is two main problems that I've got. First one is, my workmanship is too bad, I have to start again and finish clearly. The other one is, the design is looking like a chaotic Picasso scene. I have to work on the prisms to destroy that look.

A6: Double Sided Relief (I)

Given: White cardboard Generate a number quandrilateral prisms folded out of white cardboard as your design elements. Make a composition representing the design concepts that you choose by using these elements. Your design should be a double-sided relief that reflects your design idea on both sides. Starting this assignment: with no idea what to do. Just make some cubes and try to put them together, but what does double sided relief mean exactly??? After working in studio with friends and attending to panel discussions in lectures, ideas started to come. I've tried to work with various groups. In this drawing, plan view of the first design idea is showed. Groups are in different colors for a better taste of reading the design ideas. A sketch of my final idea before the jury. I've tried to use dominance as my idea in the design.
